2015 Texas State Amateur Preview
DALLAS – In advance of the 106th Texas Amateur presented by Insperity, to be contested June 18-21 at Bent Tree Country Club in Dallas, the Texas Golf Association produced an exhilarating preview video that speaks to the championship’s history and significance.
A field of 144 players will compete in 72 holes of individual stroke play with a 36-hole cut to identify the state’s best amateur golfer. More than 795 amateurs attempted to qualify, which marked the second-most entries in TGA history.
Steeped in tradition, major champions such as Ben Crenshaw, Charles Coody and Mark Brooks first won the Texas Amateur before turning pro. Other major champions like Ben Hogan and Jordan Spieth came away from Texas Amateur appearances without a victory.
The first round of the 106th Texas Amateur presented by Insperity begins Thursday at 7:30 a.m. Statewide media outlets will receive recaps and scores each night after play concludes.
