Iida and Waynick Champions at Arizona Women's Match Play

SCOTSDALE, Ariz. (June 19, 2015) The Arizona Women's State Match Play Championship concluded this week at Camelback Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.. The Championship is put on by the Arizona Women's Golf Association and consisted of both an open division and a senior division.
Saki Iida of Chandler, Ariz. claimed the trophy in the open division without much trouble, avenging her runner-up finish last year. After getting through the first round with a bye, Iida won the semifinal match 4&3 versus Alexa Schendelman. She kept her momentum going with a 4&2 victory against Carly Akine in the Championship match. Lida will be a junior at Arizona State this upcoming fall.
In the senior division, Liz Waynick battled through two tough matches on her way to winning the trophy. After cruising through her first match, Waynick had to work hard to beat her semifinal opponent Julia Sedate 2&1. From there, Waynick would go on to face Kelly Loeb and finish the match in the same fashion with a 2&1 victory.

Arizona Women's Match Play
Match play within age divisions. There will be two separate divisions of the Match Play Championship – an Open Division and a Senior Division (ages 50+). Players will play one round of Stroke Play Qualifying at Gross to determine which Match Play Seed they will be placed into.
