SCARSDALE, New York -- Brian Komline posted 6-over 146 over a long, 36-hole day to win the 78th playing of the William Rice Hochster Memorial Invitational.

Playing at the famed Westchester County course that sits adjacent to Winged Foot, Komline chased down 3-time winner Ken Bakst to grab the title by a single shot. Bakst struggled through the 15th and 16th to go from chased to chaser. The former U.S. Mid-Am Champ had one final chance with a birdie putt on the 18th but it was from long range and didn't drop.

ABOUT THE Hochster Memorial

Tillinghast -- then little- known in design circles -- to design the course. The tournament's past champions list includes Frank Strafaci, Willie Turnesa, and Jess Sweetser, as well as Dick Siderowf. More recently U.S. Mid-Am winners George Zahringer, and Ken Bakst have claimed multiple Hochster titles.
