Rahm poised to take Spanish Stroke Play Title
Jon Rahm
VIZCAYA, Spain (July 25, 2015) — Round three of the Spanish National Stroke Play Championship concluded Saturday at Laukariz Country Club.
Jon Rahm continued his solid play with a third consecutive 3-under par 69 to extend his lead to four shots heading into the final round. Rahm is the number four ranked amateurgolf.com golfer in the world and his impressive resume includes the 2015 Ben Hogan Award recipient, 2014 World Amateur Champion, and a top-5 at this year’s Waste Management Phoenix Open. Rahm will be a senior this fall at Arizona State.
The only player who seems to have a chance to catch Rahm is Scott Fernandez of Granada, Spain. Coming off a successful college career at Iowa State, Fernandez has played very solid thus far with rounds of 71, 70, and 70. He sits in second with a 5-shot cushion over 3rd place golfer Franciso Rosete.
Rahm and Fernandez are the only two golfers under par in the field and surely it will take a low-round tomorrow for Fernandez to catch Rahm.
