Ryan Kohler leads rain-delayed first round at N.H. Stroke Play

HUDSON, N.H. — On a day with three rain delays and a total time span of twelve hours between the first tee ball of the day and the last putt, Ryan Kohler (Hooper GC) was able to shoot the best round of the day with a 5-under par 67. Kohler navigated the 6,900 yard layout with three birdies and an eagle with no blemishes on the card. Kohler won the 2012 Stroke Play Championship which was also hosted at Green Meadow GC.
A total of twelve players shot under par, with another seven at even par.
Ryan Tombs (Manchester CC) shot a morning round 68 and James Pleat (Nashua CC) matched that number in the afternoon. That pair is one shot off the lead. Austin Fox (Legend’s Golf NH) shot a 69 and is in 4th place and two shots back.
Reigning Champion Joe Leavitt shot an even par 72 in the morning and is 5 shots off the lead.
The field of 102 will be cut to the low 40 players and ties after tomorrow’s 18-hole round.
Tomorrow’s round will be crucial for anybody with championship aspirations. The last four champions have all come from the final group on Thursday, meaning they were in 1st or 2nd after thirty-six holes.

Tournament is 72 holes stroke play, 18
holes
for each of the first two days; field will be
cut
to low 40 plus ties and anyone within 10
shots
of the lead after 36 holes.
Entries are open to male members in good
standing of member NHGA clubs who are

residents of New Hampshire.
