The match was close all the way, with Slattery bogeying the first hole to go one down out of the gate. Cole reciprocated by bogeying the 3rd hole and the match was back to all square. Another bogey by Cole on the 5th hole gave Slattery the lead again which he never relinquished. Slattery did let Cole back in for a bit with a bogey on hole 8 and the match remained all square until a bogey by Cole on the par-3 11th.

A birdie on the 591 yard 12th by Slattery gave him a 2-up lead and he hung on from there. Cole did get back to within one when he birdie the par-4 16th, but Slattery followed with a birdie of his own on the 17th hole to close out the match.

SEMIFINAL/QUARTERFINAL RECAP

Cole finished his semi-final match first, after easily taking out Luke Ruffing 6-and-4 while Slattery had a tougher time of dispatching Joe Walp, going 20 holes and finally winning with a birdie on the 20th hole.

In Wednesday morning's quarterfinals, Slattery put an end to Johnny Hayes' MSGA win streak. Slattery went 1-up with a par on the 4th hole to Hayes' bogey and never relinquished the lead from there, closing out Hayes on hole 16 to win the match 3-and-2.

The second quarter final match featured torrid-playing Sam Grindle taking on Walp. It seemed like the putts would simply not fall for Grindle in this match, as Walp took an early lead and never faltered, closing out Grindle on the 15th hole, 5-and-3.

In the lower bracket the first match between good friends Matt Greenleaf and Cole was an up an down battle with Greenleaf going 2-up after 3 holes, but Cole with his persistent play came back and took the lead on hole 9 and never looked back. Cole, last year's runner-up, will now face Luke Ruffing, who made it look easy by overcoming Brian Angis 5-and-4.
