Bill Williamson wins Cincinnati Mid-Amateur
Bill Williamson
BATAVIA, Ohio — Bill Williamson took home the Cincinnati Metropolitan Mid-Amateur title for the second time in three years, shooting rounds of 69 and 67 at Elks Run Golf Club.
Williamson also won the Cincinnati Metropolitan Mid-Am in 2013. That year he fought his way through the match play bracket at the U.S. Mid-Amateur before losing in the finals to Mike McCoy.
And he continues to compete at the highest level. Earlier this year, against a field comprised of many top collegiate and junior players, Williamson finished T3 at the Terra Cotta Amateur in Florida.
Williamson's two rounds in the 60s at Elks Run were two of just three rounds posted below 70 during the 36-hole event, with second-place finisher Brad Wilder -- another nationally ranked Mid-Am -- firing 69 on Monday. Wilder, of Ft. Wright, Kentucky, took the runner-up spot by seven over Mark Daniel.
