Defending champion Gene Elliott leading Iowa Senior Amateur
Gene Elliott
ANKENY, Iowa —Winning never gets old. At least not in the Iowa Senior Amateur Championship.
A year after winning his first Iowa Senior Amateur, West Des Moines’ Gene Elliott finds himself in a tie for the lead after day one of the 37th Iowa Senior Amateur at Otter Creek Golf Course.

Hock made four birdies and a lone bogey. Briggs sprinkled in five birdies to go along with only a pair of bogeys on the card.
Todd Hingtgen, of Marion, lurks two shots back after shooting 70 (-1).
In the Super Senior Division (65 years and older) Tom Sandie, of Urbandale, shot 73 (+2) and leads by one over Brian Fell, of Ames, and Scott Carnes, of Hiawatha.
