Logan Goulding wins Antioch City Amateur
Logan Goulding
ANTIOCH, Calif. — Logan Goulding took home the championship prize on Sunday at Lone Tree Golf Course, firing a final-round 68 to break away from a three-way tie and win the Antioch City Amateur Championship by a stroke.
Goulding, a former University of Hawaii-Hilo golfer who served as the University of the Pacific volunteer assistant men's golf coach until this spring, shared the opening-round lead at 69 with former Holy Names golfer Pedro Oviedo-Jimenez as well as Scott Olds. The three would take the top three spots come Sunday's tournament conclusion, but a final-round 68 for Goulding gave him the top prize. Oviedo-Jimenez posted his second straight 69 and finished runner-up, while Olds carded 70 and grabbed third.
Recent Northern California Match Play finalist Matt Cohn placed fourth at 143 (71-72) while Shane Favinger rounded out the top-five with a two-day total of 144 (74-70).
In the Senior Championship, held last weekend, Dale Bouguennec ran away with a 10-shot win thanks to a final-round 65. He led after day one by two over Tony McBroom, Mark Miller, and David Rebman, but pulled away significantly with his stellar Sunday score.
McBroom took second at 145 while Miller settled for third at 146.
And in the Super Senior division, Herb Jensen fired 68-72 for a two-day total of 140 and a four-shot win over Bob Thomason.
