Morgan edges Britt at Moore County Amateur

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — Will Morgan shot 70 on Saturday at Mid Pines Inn & Resort to edge U.S. Amateur Four-Ball finalist Sherrill Britt at the Moore County Amateur.
The 18-hole stroke play event is played at the beautiful Mid Pines, just outside Pinehurst, which hosts the annual Mid Pines Invitational.
Morgan and Britt fired 67 on Friday and trailed Pete Lineburger by a stroke, but Lineberger shot 75 in the final round and took third. Meanwhile, Morgan and Britt went down to the wire with Morgan's 70 edging Britt's 71.
Britt, along with partner Greg Earnhardt, were finalists at the inaugural U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship, where they lost to Nathan Smith and Todd White at The Olympic Club.
In the Senior Division, Gary Strickfaden posted 146 to beat Chuck Wilkins by two. Strickfaden entered the last day with a two-stroke lead over Garland Yates and Dave Davis.

Stroke play championship that celebrated its 80th
playing in 2021. Open to Moore County (NC)
residents with handicaps of 9.9 or lower.
The Championship is a 54-hole stroke play
tournament. After 18 holes,
the field will be cut to the low 45 players and ties.
After 36 holes, the
field will be cut to the low 24 (no ties). Ties for the
low 24 will be
decided by an on-course playoff. The low 24 will be
exempt from
qualifying for the following year.
