CABA, Argentina — Players got in just nine holes each during the first day of stroke play qualifying for the Argentine Amateur Championship as weather delayed play. Because of this, the originally scheduled 36-hole stroke play qualifying portion of the event will be shortened to just 27 holes, assuming weather cooperates on Wednesday.

Eric Banks, who recently led his Canadian squad to a repeat performance at the Juan Carlos Tailhade Cup in Buenos Aires, is one of four players tied for first place through nine holes at 32. Also at 2-under are Lisandro Eyherabide and Gaston Romero of Argentina, as well as Cameron John of Australia.

Five players, all Argentinians, are a stroke back at 1-under 33, including Andres Gallegos and Miguel Sancholuz.
