The Palmer Cup, a Ryder Cup-style event between collegians from the US teaming against European collegians, picks one of the 20 participants to play at the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill in Orlando in March. This year they chose Stanford’s Maverick McNealy, winner of the 2015 Haskins Award as college’s most outstanding golfer.
McNealy confirmed his spot via Twitter yesterday. “Excited to confirm my spot in @APinv today – thanks @ArnoldPalmerCup for the incredible opportunity. Can’t wait to get back out there!” he said in his Twitter post.
McNealy’s other three PGA events have gone well. After qualifying for the US Open in 2014, he missed the cut at Pinehurst, but his two events in 2015, the Barbasol and the Greenbrier Classic, McNealy made the cut and played the weekend.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational is scheduled for March 17-20.
