O'Sullivan and Valenzuela Make Cut at ANA Inspiration
Hannah O'Sullivan
RANCHO MIRAGE, CA (April 1, 2016)--2016 Curtis Cup team member
Hannah O’Sullivan (+1) and Switzerland's
Albane Valenzuela (+2) were the only two amateurs to make the cut at the ANA Inspiration. The top-65 players and ties made it through to the weekend at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club.
O'Sullivan followed her opening round even-par 72 up with a round two 1-over-par 73 and currently sits in T48. The defending U.S. Amateur champion had an interesting front nine. From holes two through seven she went birdie, double-bogey, birdie, bogey, par, bogey. It was all part of opening nine 38 that dropped her back to 2-over-par for the tournament.
Needing to steady herself on the back nine in order to make the cut O'Sullivan responded with a 1-under-par 35. She carded a birdie and the rest pars.
Albane Valenzuela was the only other amateur to make the cut and she made it on the number thanks to a pair of 1-over-par 73's. Valenzuela bogeyed five and birdied four during her round but it was her birdie on the 18th that punched her ticket to the weekend. She currently is tied for 68th.
O'Sullivan will begin her third round 9:41 a.m. with Beatriz Recari while Valenzuela will tee off at 8:21 a.m. with Annie Park.
