The Masters: DeChambeau and Langasque Struggle as does much of Field in Third Round
Bryson DeChambeau
AUGUSTA, GA (April 9, 2016)--Bryson DeChambeau (+5) is probably wishing Augusta National ended with hole 17. On yet another blustering and challenging day at the Masters DeChambeau was more then holding his own, just 3-over-par on his round as he headed to the 18th the site of his triple-bogey yesterday.
Again DeChambeau sent his tee shot left on the closing hole, this time keeping it in play. His second shot to the back left pin ended up in right green side bunker. DeChambeau hit a well struck bunker shot to give the U.S. Amateur champion a six-foot par putt. Unfortunately, he missed the putt and the ensuing bogey putt and walked away with a double-bogey. He is now 5-over-par on the 18th hole this week.
DeChambeau carded three birdies during his third round but he couldn't stay away from the big numbers that haunted most of the field on Saturday. The former SMU golfer bogeyed four holes and had two double-bogeys, both coming over the final four hole stretch. He will begin the fourth round T23. Jordan Spieth is leading following a Masters round for a record seventh straight time.
Romain Langasque (+14-56): It was a difficult day for the reigning British Amateur champion. After two solids rounds to begin his tournament Langasque struggled in Saturday’s third round shooting an 83 after first and second round scores of 74-73. Langasque did birdie one hole during his round, the difficult par-4 10th. Despite the disappointing day Langasque, 20-years-old, is showing his metal at a young age as he has now played on the weekend in both majors he has appeared in. He was T65 in last years British Open at St. Andrews.
