OCALA, FL (April 13, 2016)--With weather conditions that calmed down for Round 2, the scoring average has dropped. Round 1 yielded an average of just under 78 (swayed a touch by the two hole-in-ones). Today's round played a shot easier with 29 more birdies or better today than in Tuesday's round.

As we head in to the final day we see 62 players making the cut, which is +9 or better. Leading the way is Bob Mathers of Niceville, FL with two stellar rounds of 69-70 and a tournament total of 139 (-5). Sam Till is currently in second at -4, while David Anthony and Peter Wegmann are tied for 3rd at -3 as we make the home stretch. The low rounds of the day came from Craig Howell and Brett Voisin with 3-under par 69's. They sit in 5th and T-6th respectively.

Final round tee times begin at 8:00 A.M.

ROUND ONE RECAP

The windy conditions and very fast putting surfaces made for a difficult first day at the Senior Championship. Sam Till sets the pace with a lovely 67 (-5) to lead a handful of players who are within a few shots of the lead, including Richard Kerper and Peter Wegman who stand one back at 68.

TOURNAMENT PREVIEW

The highlight of the day came when the group of Sam Till, Randy Elliott, and John Latowski reached the beautiful par-3 5th. Till had the honor and hit a great shot that never left the flag and rolled into the hole for an ace. Elliott was next to play and had a little trouble following Till's ace; however, Latowski stepped up and pulled his tee shot a little left, but the ball bounced and rolled perfectly off the slopes and joined Till's ball in the hole for another ace!!! Golf Digest estimates the odds of two hole-in-ones in the same group, and on the same hole, at nearly 26 million to 1.
