RANCHO MIRAGE, CA (April 20, 2016)--With an even-par final round score UNLV (877) has won the 2016 MWC Women's Championship. The Rebels were led at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club by Individual champion Alexandra Kaui (-4).
UNLV captured the title leading wire-to-wire and winning by nine-strokes over second place San Diego State (886). Fresno State (897) was in third.
Kaui paced the UNLV attack all week long on her way to capturing the Individual conference title by five shots. Kaui shot scores of 72-71-69. The final day 3-under tally was an emphatic close to the tournament for the Las Vegas native.
Kaui opened her final round on the first hole and rifled out of the gates quickly with a birdie on No. 2. It was the first of four birdies during her final 18-holes. Kaui finished strong with a birdie on the 17th while bogeying only once in the final round. Colorado State freshman Katrina Prendergast (+1) finished second.
UNLV also received a fourth place finish from sophomore Mackenzie Raim (+3) and a T7 from Harley Dubsky (+7).
