Georgia Four-Ball: Billy Mitchell and Chris Waters Lead After Rainy Round One

THOMASVILLE, GA (April 22, 2016) - Billy Mitchell of Roswell and Chris Waters of Atlanta fired a 9-under-par 63 and lead the Georgia Four-Ball Championship by two strokes. The 45th edition of this event is taking place at Glen Arven Country Club, April 22-24.
Nic Daugharty and Matthew Smith, both of Valdosta, came in at 7-under-par 65. Five teams finished at 6-under-par 66 - Travis Steed of Macon/Mark Sweeney of Monroe; Stan Gann, Jr., of Bonaire/Shawn Hodge of Kathleen; Scott Cunningham of Alpharetta/Bob Royak of Alpharetta; Bubba Gwyn of Duluth/Chris Purvis of Cumming; and Adam Cooper of Columbus/Bubba Gallops of Gallops of Columbus.
The defending champions, Cason Hammock and Jason Fober, both of Columbus, posted an even-par 72.
Due to severe weather in the Thomasville area, round one action suffered just over an hour and a half suspension Friday afternoon. Once the radar cleared, play resumed at 1:55 p.m.
Entries were open to two-man teams of male amateur golfers who belong to a GSGA member club.
The format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play each day. The field will be cut to the low 40 teams and ties after 36 holes.
