PITTSBURGH, PA (May 2, 2016) - Nathan Smith, one of the top mid-amateur players in the country won today's Western Pennsylvania Spring Stroke Play. Smith finished 3-under-par and was victorious by two over Zachary Ford.

In the one day 36-hole event Smith who has the won the U.S. Mid-Amateur a record four-times fired rounds of 70-71 at St. Clair Country Club. Smith carded only three bogey's on the day while birdieing six holes, including four during the first round.

Ford (-1) was alone in second place and Darin Kowalski (E) was third. Rick Stimmel (+1) and Sean Knapp (+4) rounded out the top-five finishing fourth and fifth.

ABOUT THE WPGA Spring Stroke Play

Entries are open to amateur golfers with a Handicap Index not exceeding 4.4 strokes who has either won his club's respective Men's Club Championship or has accrued points on the previous year's WPGA Honor Rolls. A Handicap Index issued by a WPGA Member Club is required for entry. 36 holes of stroke play over a single day.
