Micahel Smith wins Jacksonville Match Play
ATLANTIC BEACH, FL (May 22, 2016) - Michael Smith has outlasted the field and won the Jacksonville Match Play Championship at the Atlantic Beach Country Club. Smith won the championship match 3&1 over No. 17 Sam Uland.
Smith, the 11-seed, reached the championship match following a Sunday morning 5&4 semifinal win against seven-seed Devon Hopkins. Only one of Smith's matches reached the 18th hole and that was his 1 up quarterfinal win over JP Pearce.
Uland reached the finals by defeating 12-seed Duke Butler 4&3. Butler would end up finishing third after he defeated Hopkins 2&1 in the consolation match.
