GARDEN CITY, NY (May 23, 2016) - Following a hard fought championship match at the Travis Invitational Trevor Randolph was the last man standing. Randolph continued his successful 2016 on Sunday by defeating Brad Wilder 3&1 at the Tom Doak recently renovated Garden City Golf Club.

Randolph, from Cliffside Park, NJ, was able to create some separation with wins on holes 14 and 15 before delivering the knock out punch on the 17th. With 215 yards left on the penultimate hole, Randolph knocked his hybrid to eight-feet setting up a short eagle attempt. Randolph wasn't out of the woods yet as Wilder had a look at eagle but after his putt missed, Randolph's putt was conceded and the title was his.

The match swung back and forth early on with Randolph jumping out to a 2 up lead after two holes, only to find himself 1 down after 11 holes. Randolph has been playing some excellent golf this season winning the New Jersey Mid-Amateur and playing his way into the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying.

Despite falling in the championship match, Brad Wilder, an AmateurGolf.com member won medalist honors on Friday shooting a Garden City Golf Club competitive course record 7-under 66. Wilder is a member of Valhalla Golf Club in Kentucky.

In other news from the Travis Invitational TJ Shuart, the Coleman Invitational winner, captured the first flight title with a 6&5 win over Michael Affeldt. The first flight is known as the Devereux Emmet Cup.
