David Brown cards 4 birdies in the final round to win Western Pennsylvania Senior Amateur
Pittsburg, PA (May 31, 2016) - David Brown was able to secure a one shot victory at the Western Pennsylvania Senior Amateur on Tuesday. Thanks to 4 birdies in the final round, Brown was able to fend off Stan Namola and claim his first Western Penn. Senior Am title.
Despite making 8 bogeys during the 36 hole event, Brown was able to fight his way back and post 2-over (144). The absence of any big numbers, and solid birdie production would help Brown on his way to victory at South Hills Country Club in Pittsburg. The finish was dramatic as Brown birdied his final hole to avoid a playoff with Namola, and claim the prestigious Thomas S. Jamison Vase.
Stan Namola’s 3-over (145) was good for runner-up and Michael J Cushman finished 3rd at 4-over (146). Five time champion Paul Schlachter finished T8 with a 36 hole total of 7-over (149). Defending champion and three time winner Perry Graciano was not in the field this year.
