Kewalreamani opens with 65 at Simi Valley City
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (June 4, 2016) -- While many golfers are finding all the challenging lies at Simi Hills Golf Course, a number of golfers in this year’s City Championship are playing and score well.

In the lead after one round is Simi Valley resident, Brandon Kewalramani, with a score of 65, or 6 strokes under par. Two strokes off the pace with a score of 67 is Tim Hogarth (Northridge), followed by two competitors at 3 under par 68 – Brandon Shin (Granada Hills) and Jesse Arian (La Crescenta).

According to Simi Hills General Manager and Head Professional, Brian Reed, the course is in excellent condition, giving golfers the opportunity to go low. Says Reed, “Simi Hills Golf Course is in terrific condition and the greens are playing firm and fast”.  He added “the set-up of the course is difficult but fair, and really speaks highly of the skill and dedication of the golf course maintenance crew, especially Golf Course Superintendent, Jeff Hache.”  “Well hit golf shots are rewarded, but if you’re not precise, you will be tested by the many hazards on the course”.

After the first round, the Senior Championship flight leaders are Bob Valerio (Hawthorne), who shot 1 under par 70, followed by Dave Crawford (Camarillo) and David Eberstein (Granada Hills), who both carded scores of even par 71.

The City Championship concludes on Sunday at Simi Hills Golf Course. This premier city championship is celebrating its 35 th year of competition. Spectators are welcome to follow the competition at the course. Play resumes at 6:12 am, with the championship flight starting at 10:44 am.
