New Mexico-West Texas Amateur: Sean Carlon takes the title

COCHITIT, NM (June 26, 2016) -- Sean Carlon finished 10-under as he won the New Mexico-West Texas Amateur at Cochiti Golf Club. Throughout the 54-hole week Carlon rolled in 13 birdies and only three bogeys, one each day.
Carlon, a rising sophomore at New Mexico, posted rounds of 69-69-68 on his way to winning by two-strokes over Evan Macias who finished 8-under.
During the final round Carlon tallied five birdies and a bogey. The birdies came on holes 3, 4, 10, 11 and 13.
Macias, a sophomore at UTEP, made the biggest move of the day firing a 7-under 65. On the par-5's alone Macias was 5-under thanks to a pair of eagles and a birdie. Throughout the day Macias converted three more birdies and one bogey.
Tanner Gore (UT Arlington) was 7-under and in third place while James Lee (Rice) was 4-under and fourth. Two others finished tied for fifth at 3-under.
