CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (July 13, 2016) -- If the 36-hole final day wasn't long enough, Skip Berkmeyer needed two playoff holes to capture the Missouri Stroke Play Championship. Berkmeyer finished regulation tied with second round leader Travis Mays at 2-under.

Berkmeyer was 2-over after the first round at Dalhousie Golf Club but he was able to turn things around during the following three rounds with scores of 67-72-73. During his 5-under 67 second round Berkmeyer played bogey-free golf with five birdies.

In the final round Berkmeyer reached 2-under with a birdie on No. 12, only to give it back on the 17th. Now needing a birdie to force a playoff the Wildwood, MO resident responded, rolling in his fourth birdie of the round.

Mays, from Overland, KS, provided some late heroics as well. Sitting at even-par for the week and facing a potential double-bogey on the 16th, Mays chipped in for bogey to only drop a stroke. With a par-4 and par-5 remaining Mays knew he needed to make a move and he did as he finished birdie-eagle to reach 2-under.

Chance Holden (Dexter, MO) finished third at 2-over, Brevin Giebler ( Cape Girardeau, MO) was 3-over in third while Missouri Amateur winner Sam Migdal finished fifth at 4-over.
