Four remain at Oklahoma State Amateur

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (July 26, 2016) -- Four players remain at the Oklahoma State Amateur with one day remaining at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. The first semifinal match at 8:00 a.m. CDT will feature No. 8 Mike Hearne and No. 28 Tate Williamson; seven minutes later No. 34 Drew Posada and No. 3 Quade Cummins will face off.

Mike Hearne, a 2015 Southern Nazarene University graduate, reached the semifinals after a 1 up win against top-seed Brendon Jelley. The Division II Ping All-American has had a handful of tight matches this week; surviving previous tilts in 19 holes, then by 2&1 and 2 up tallies.

His opponent, Tate Williamson a rising senior at Northeastern State, won his quarters match 1 up against four-seed Jeff Coffman. Williamson's other wins came by 5&4, 2&1, 2&1 scores.

In the second semifinal the highest remaining seed and the lowest remaining seed will do battle. 34-seed Drew Posada, who recently finished his career at Oklahoma Baptist, ran away with his quarterfinal match, defeating No. 42 Wesley Jackson 7&6. Posada reached the quarters due to a default win the Round of 16 and then 2&1, 5&4 victories.

His opponent, three-seed Quade Cummins won his quarterfinal match by a 4&3 triumph over No. 11 Kyle Story. Cummins, a redshirt sophomore at Oklahoma, earned wins earlier in the week via scores of 5&4, 1 up, 3&2.

The championship match will be contested on Wednesday afternoon with the tee time scheduled for approximately 12:30 p.m.

Open to Oklahoma residents with handicap index of 7.0 or less who have completed qualifying or are exempt. 18 holes of stroke play determines a round of 64 match play bracket.
