Carolinas Open: Greensboro pro Drew Younts, at 9-under grabs lead from amateurs
Bryan Park Golf Course
Greensboro, NC (August 3, 2016) – The second round of the 92nd Carolinas Open presented by BB&T was again suspended today due to darkness after a full and long day of golf.
Greensboro local Drew Younts currently holds the lead at nine strokes under par.
Tuesday's first round was significantly delayed by two dangerous storms forcing an overnight suspension. After resumption, many competitors were left with as many as 35 holes to play on day two.
Approximately 20 competitors will need to return to finish their second rounds on Thursday morning. After that, the 36-hole cut will be made to the low 60 competitors and ties.
Younts, a PGA Apprentice Teaching Professional at Precision Golf School, has yet to bogey any hole through two rounds. He has now posted scores of 68-67=135 (-9).
Cory Schneider, a PGA Teaching Professional from The Pointe Golf Club, sits three strokes behind alone in second place at 69-69=138 (-6). Amateur Matthew Rushton of Hilton Head Island, SC, is in third place and is unofficially -5 through the first round and part of his second round.
