BRADENTON, FL (August 6, 2016) -- Top-seed Christopher Carlin has advanced through four rounds and now finds himself in the semifinals of the Florida Match Play facing No. 37 Christian Bosso. Joining the duo in the semis at the Ritz-Carlton Members Club will be 15-seed Andrew Arft and 38-seed Eric Grimes.
Carlin, one of five who shared medalist honors, advanced to the semifinals thanks to a 1 up win in the quarterfinals against eight-seed Jake Kevorkian. The quarters match has so far been the only time that Carlin, the first year head coach at Nova Southeastern, has reached the final hole.
His opponent, Christian Bosso a rising sophomore at West Florida, moved on with a 1 up win of his own against No. 61 Jeremy Perna. Thus far Bosso has had a tougher road than Carlin, most notably his 20 hole triumph against five-seed Huston Chandler.
The semifinal between Carlin and Bosso will start at 8:00 a.m. EST.
Andrew Arft, part of the second semifinal beginning at 8:15 a.m. made his way through via a 1 up quarterfinal win. Arft's victory came against No. 39 Joe Alfieri. For Arft, a sophomore at Central Florida, his quarterfinals match was the first time he reached the 18th hole.
Eric Grimes had the easiest quarterfinal match of the day winning 3&2 over 19-seed Blake Dyer. The Stetson sophomore is the highest seed remaining but is yet to have a match go past the 17th hole.
Defending champion TJ Shuart was the 58-seed and he fell in the Round of 64.
The championship match will follow the completion of the morning semifinal matches.
