BOULDER, CO (August 6, 2016) -- Colin Prater of The Broadmoor Golf Club held an eight-stroke lead late in Saturday's round of the Colorado Amateur Championship presented by Webster Investment Advisors, but a slight swing in momentum at the end of the day will leave him with a five-shot advantage heading into Sunday's final round at Boulder Country Club.
The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs golfer shot a 4-under-par 66 on Saturday -- the best score of the tournament by two strokes -- to leave him at 5-under 205 overall.
The 2016 U.S. Amateur qualifier made five birdies and the only blemish on his card was a three-putt bogey on the 17th hole Saturday.
Incoming University of Colorado golfer Spencer Painton of Green Valley Ranch Golf Club narrowed the lead to five by draining 30-foot birdie putts on each of his last two holes Saturday. That gave the former 5A state high school champion a third-round 69 and an even-par 210 total.
