Mark Mance wins Montana Mid-Amateur by eight

POLSON, MT (August 13, 2016) -- Mark Mance closed with a final round bogey-free 6-under 66 and won the Montana Mid-Amateur by a commanding eight-strokes. Mance finished 12-under at Polson Bay Golf Course and well clear of second place finisher Shawn Tucker.

Mance began his week with a 1-under 71 before really getting things going with a flawless second round 5-under 67.

On the final day Mance birdied six holes, including three straight from Nos. 5-7. After turning in 3-under 33, Mance rolled in three more birdies on the 13th, 14th and 18th holes. The final day 66 was the round of the week.

Mance played his final 40 holes bogey-free with his last bogey of the week coming on the 14th hole of his first round.

Tucker who held a share of the lead after the first round finished 4-under and in second after rounds of 67-72-73.

Spencer Williams, the first round co-leader, and Parker Heller shared third place at 2-under. Bennett MacIntyre was 1-under and in fifth.

54-hole stroke play championship run by the Montana State Golf Assocaition. Must be a legal resident of Montana, a current member of the Montana State Golf Association, and have a maximum established handicap index of 15.0.
