Playing on Pinehurst No. 8 Robinson, the first round leader, shot a 3-over 75 one day after firing a bogey-free 6-under 64 on Pinehurst No. 1.

On Wednesday, Robinson birdied the 1st hole to move to 7-under and then had to battle the rest of the day. Robinson bogeyed the 2nd, 6th and 8th before triple-bogeying No. 10 to fall to 1-under for the week.

From there Robinson did well to fight back as he rolled in birdies on the 11th, 14th and 15th holes bringing him back to 4-under. Robinson did bogey the 16th but his back nine surge placed him back atop the leaderboard.

Bob Kearney shot a 2-under 70 on Wednesday, following up his first round 1-under 69. Kearney already a three-time ranking event winner this year moved into a tie for the lead with a four birdie and two bogey day. Late on the back nine, from Nos. 14-17 Kearney birdied three of four holes.

The final member of the first place tie is a more then familiar face in seven-time North & South Senior Amateur winner and defending champion Paul Simson. Beginning the day 2-under Simson birdied three and bogeyed two for a 1-under 71.

Robert Parmar and Macon Moye are tied for fourth at 2-under, Gary Backlund is 1-under in sixth. A total of seven players are within four-strokes of the lead.

Thursday marks the final day of the 54-hole tournament and play will shift to Pinehurst No. 5.

In the Super Senior Division Logan Jackson took over the lead after starting the day tied with two others. Jackson is 1-under and ahead of Donald Gallagher by one-stroke.

Jackson has combined scores of 72-69. Playing on Pinehurst No. 1 Jackson birdied six hole and bogeyed five.

The final round of the Super Senior Division will be played on Pinehurst No. 8.

ROUND ONE RECAP

Gary Robinson will carry a four-stroke lead into the second round of the North & South Senior Amateur. Robinson opened his week with a 6-under 64 on Pinehurst No. 1.

Robinson, the 2015 Carolinas Senior Men's Player of the Year, played a flawless round of golf as he bookmarked his nines. The day began with consecutive birdies and then an eagle on the par-5 4th to quickly reach 4-under. From there it was a long run of pars until Robinson birdied the final two holes of his day.

Four players are tied for second place at 2-under. The group is comprised of Paul Simson, Kenneth Phillips, Ronald Kilby and Geno Berchiatti.

The second round will be played on Wednesday at Pinhurst No. 8 before the final round is played on No. 5.

In the Super Senior Division Donald Gallagher is 2-under and ahead of Steve Pachol by one shot.

Playing on Pinehurst No. 8 Gallagher carded a bogey-free round with birds on the 3rd and 12th holes.

Pachol was a bit all over the place during his round as he rolled in six birdies, three bogeys and a double-bogey.

Logan Jackson, Dan Smith and Chuck Wilkins are all tied for third at even-par.

The field will head to Pinehurst No. 1 on Wednesday and No. 8 for Thursday's final round.
