Just last month, Hutchins won the Maine Amateur Championship at York Golf and Tennis Club and on Thursday morning he kept the momentum going by winning the Maine Match Play title. In the final round of the Match Play Championship, Hutchins came out on top of a see-saw battle with Will Kannegieser, walking away with his second crystal trophy of the season by a final score of 1-up.

Hutchins won the 9th to move within 1 down after falling behind early and then won the 15th and 16th holes to tie and take the lead and the title.

Hutchins was able to win the 15th with par after Kannegieser put his shot into the a large bunker leading to bogey.

On the ensuing par-5 Hutchins split the fairway and his birdie did the trick.

This was the third match this week for him that went all 18 holes, and the young man from Falmouth won all three by the narrowest of margins. In just his first year back in Maine, he's quickly made a name for himself as the player to beat right now in the Pine Tree State.

Hutchins now heads off to UCLA where he will be a new addition to the Bruins golf team after previously playing for Division II Chico State (CA).

Though he didn't capture the title, this was by far Kannegieser's best finish in the event, and the first time he even advanced to day two. The two-time junior state champion will head off to Williams College this fall.
