Poirier reached the finals thanks to a 5&4 win against six-seed Chip Ward. The match was all-square after the front nine until Poirier rattled off five wins in a row beginning on the 10th hole.
Smith moved onto the finals via a 19 hole win against 16-seed Jeremy Dolin. After nine holes Smith trailed 3 down before rallying to tie it on the 18th hole and then won it on the first extra hole.
