Natale, Sawtell win Merit Amateur

GURNEE, IN (September 8, 2016) -- Michael Natale and Steve Sawtell teamed up to win the Merit Amateur, finishing with a final score of +18 to beat Ryan Anetsberger and Andy Mack by one point at the Merit Club.
The 54-hole, multi-format event features rounds of best-ball and stableford in team play. Finishing just a shade further back at +14 in a tie for third were the teams of George Getz and Ben Hayes, Patrick Duffy and Andy Hulett, Tim Hoss and Grant Goltz.
In the Senior Division Mark Esposito and Ted Zurkowski defended their title with a +9 tally. Four points behind in second place was Dirk Anderson and Steve Jacobs at +5.
Three teams; Chris and Dave Beto, Gus Kozina and Mark Palmer; Danny Brown and Mike Scardina finished even in a tie for third.

Carmody Invitational
Formerly known as the Merit Amateur, this is a two
day, multi-format event
that features rounds of
best-ball Stableford. 27 holes are played each day,
with
the final 9 holes each day the aggregate score of the
two players.
Handicap and age requirements are the same as for
the
USGA
Mid-Am and the USGA Senior Am. Field limit to 36
teams and will be considered by playing
resume. Merit Club hosted the 2000 U.S.
Women's Open.
