Crump Cup: Two-time champion Michael Muehr is Medalist

Pine Valley, NJ (September 23, 2016) -- Michael
Muehr
of Potomac Falls, VA shot even-par 70 to take the
medalist honors with a 36-hole score of 4-under 136
in
the Open Division of the 92nd George Arthur Crump
Memorial Tournament at Pine Valley Golf Club.
Muehr
will face Skip Berkmeyer of Wildwood, MO in the
First
Round of match play. Muehr is a two-time Crump
Cup
Champion and Berkmeyer won in 2009.
In the Senior Division, Pat Tallent of Vienna, VA
was medalist with scores of 74 and 68 for a 36-hole
total of 2-0ver 142. Tallent will face Alan Fadel of
Toledo, OH in the First Round of Senior Division
match
play.
The public is invited to view the final matches on
Sunday, September 25th. The gates will open at
approximately 12:45 p.m. EST.
ROUND ONE RECAP
Two-time Crump
Champion Michael Muehr of Potomac Falls, VA made
five
birdies on his way to a 4-under-par 66 to lead the
field
after the opening round of the 92nd Annual George
Crump Memorial Tournament at Pine Valley Golf
Club.
Brian Komline of Bridgewater, NJ also made five
birdies
finishing the day at 2-under 68. Jeff Scohy of
Bellbrook,
OH and Danny Simmerman of Shavano Park, TX also
finished under par thanks to 1-under 69.
In the Senior Division, David Nelson of Reno, NV
joined past Senior Champions Chip Lutz of Reading,
PA
and George Zahringer III of New York City for the
lead
at even-par 70.
In the Open division on Friday 62 players will
compete for 48 spots in match play. The Senior
Division
will see 38 players will compete for 24 spots.

ABOUT THE
Crump Cup
The George A. Crump Memorial Tournament --
named
for the
hotelier and course architect most famous for
building
Pine Valley -- is arguably the premier mid-
amateur
event in the United States. The invitational field
is
made of of top players from around the United
States
and the UK. The format for the four days is two
rounds
of stroke play qualifying, followed by four
rounds
of
match play. Players are flighted according to
their
qualifying position, and a separate Senior flight
includes three of those flights. Jay Sigel has won
the
event the most times, with nine victories
between
1975 and 1993.
Normally, the public is invited to attend the Sunday
final matches but that tradition has been suspended.
