GLENVIEW, Il. (September 26, 2016) -- The Florida Gators have captured their first collegiate event of the 2016-17 season with a victory at the Windon Memorial hosted by North Shore Country Club.

The Gators tallied a three-round total of 861 (-3) to defeat runner-up Eastern Michigan by five shots and University of Michigan by nine. Florida was led by sophomore Gordon Neale who finished with rounds of 70, 70, and 72 for a total of 212 (-4) and a tie for 2nd finish. Freshman and 2012 U.S. Open participant Andy Zhang finished in a solo sixth place while junior Ryan Celano finished in a tie for 8th.

The individual title was won by Michigan junior Kyle Mueller who put together a stellar final round 67 (-5) on a day that saw more scores in the 80's than the 60's. Mueller's 67 was the lowest by three shots on the day and led him to a three-shot victory over Neale and Northwestern's Dylan Wu. This is the second individual win for the two-time All-Big Ten Team member.
