Tony Mullet claims Idaho Tournament of Champions Men's Division

TWIN FALLS, MN (October 2, 2016) -- The 2016 Idaho Tournament of Champions was conducted at Blue Lakes Country Club October 1-2 in Twin Falls. After the first round of the championship, Mike Rawls was leading the Senior Division with an even-par 72 while Steven Pleas and Tony Wilson trailed behind at 1-over-par. Tony Mullet shot a first round total of 5-under-par 67 and had a five-stroke lead over Arthur Lynch and Carson Barry in the Men’s Division.
Kareen Markle led the Women Division with a 3-over-par 76, and had a three-stroke lead going into the final round. Brittanie Toone who won the championship in 2015 finished at 6-over-par 79 as well as Katie Neely. In the Senior Women’s Division, there was a three way tie amongst Kristin Fenwick, Shawna Ianson and Linda Estes at 6-over-par. Ianson won the 2016 Idaho Senior State Championship and was looking for a second win of the season.
On day two, Mike Rawls held the lead the whole way and completed play with a 5-under-par 67 and a two day total of 5-under-par to win by ten-strokes over Tony Wilson in the Senior Men’s Division. Rawls won the 2016 Super Senior Classic at Jug Mountain Ranch just a few weeks before. In the Men’s Division it was a close championship with Carson Barry and Arthur Lynch finishing at 1-under-par for the two days, but Tony Mullett secured the championship at 2-under-par 142.
In the Senior Women’s Division, Shawna Ianson won by four-strokes fresh off her her senior championship win. Georgia Hutchinson and Kristin Fenwick (defending champion) finished their rounds at 15-over-par. Kareen Markle is no stranger to winning championships and she managed to hang in there to win the Women’s Division by two strokes. Katie Neely of Boise finished at nine over par to take second place.
