CHICAGO, Ill. (October 4, 2016) -- The Georgia Bulldogs won the Windy City Collegiate Tuesday for the 2nd straight year, closing with a 2-over 290 to edge Stanford and USC.
The Bulldogs finished with a three-round total of 854 (-10), topping Stanford by four shots and USC by five. The Bulldogs were led by sophomore Bailey Tardy who posted rounds of 66, 69, and 72 for an individual runner-up finish. This is Tardy's third top-5 finish in as many events this year.
“I’m super happy with our team and how they performed today,” head coach Josh Brewer told Georiga Athletics. “We had a chance last week at the Annika and didn’t get it done. This victory is a big statement early in the year for us on where we are and how we can compete on a national level.”
Stanford freshman Andrea Lee captured the individual medalist honors, finishing strong with a final-round 67 (-5) to add to her rounds of 68 and 71. Her 67 was only round in the 60's in Tuesday's final round, where the course average was 74.68. Lee led the field in birdies (15) along with par-3 scoring (2.67). Georgia's Tardy finished one-shot back in solo second while the world's top amateur Leona Maguire took solo third.
