Garret Wagner Wins Contra Costa County Amateur
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (October 30, 2016) -- Garret Wagner captured the Contra Costa County Sunday after heavy rain forced the championship to be shortened to 27 holes.
Wagner opened with a 4-under 68 on Saturday to led Jake Yount by one shot heading into the final round. Wagner and Yount each posted a 1-over 37 on the front-nine when play was suspended. After a two hour rain day in which nearly an inch of rain fell, it was decided the event would be cut to 27 holes.
The win continues a streak of good play for Wagner who recently finished in a tie for 4th at the NCGA Valley Amateur. UC Berkeley's Alexander Wilson fired rounds of 70 and 39 to tie for third with UC Davis's Ryan Han who shot rounds of 71 and 38.
