LAHAINA, HI (November 6, 2016) -- When the day began it looked like Georgia was in control however nobody gave No. 16 Clemson that memo. Backed by medalist winner Doc Redman the Tigers overcame a 12-stroke deficit and put together a 20-under final round to finish 26-under and atop the final Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic leaderboard. The win at Ka'anapali Golf Course was Clemson's second team win of the fall season and it was also their largest comeback since 2009 when they came back from 13-strokes back at the U.S Collegiate Championship.
Redman led the way with a 7-under 64 that helped him post a medalist winning 15-under tally. Well decorated as a junior player, Redman has already won twice during his freshman season, previously winning the Jackrabbit Invitational. With the victory Redman became the first freshman since Jimmy White in 1974-75 to win twice.
Redman began his round with the first of his four front nine birdies to go along with an eagle on the par-5 6th as he turned in 6-under 31.
Still firing on all cylinders, Redman birdied the 12th and 16th to get as low as 16-under before bogeying his only hole of the day the 18th.
Of the five players in the Clemson line-up four of them turned in under-par scorecards on Sunday and two placed inside the top-20. Senior Carson Young finished tied for 12th at 5-under and sophomore Bryson Nimmer was in a 19th place tie at 3-under.
Behind Redman in the individual race was runner-up Sam Burns of LSU at 13-under, 36-hole leader Greyson Sigg of Georgia was 12-under while Oklahoma's Blaine Hale; North Florida's Travis Trace finished tied for fourth at 11-under.
No. 14 Georgia began the day with a 10-stroke lead and played well despite being overtaken by the hard charging Tigers. The Bulldogs had to settle for second, one-stroke behind at 25-under.
No. 6 LSU was third at 24-under, ninth ranked Oklahoma was fourth at 18-under and 12-under South Carolina was fifth.
