AUENOS AIRES, Argentina (November 13, 2016) -- After waiting out a morning rain storm Herik Machado de Oliveira claimed the Argentine Amateur at Pilar Golf Club. The championship match was shortened to 18-holes due to the rain and de Oliveira was able to claim the title 2 up over Andress Schonbaum.
de Oliveira the 13-seed, blitzed Schonbaum out of the gates and took a 4 up lead after 10-holes before hanging on down the stretch. Schonbaum, the two-seed, made a late run and got within 1 down with two holes remaining.
However, de Oliveira was able to right the ship with a halve on the 17th and then sealed the deal with a closing hole win.
