VICTORIA, Australia (November 23, 2016) -- Scoring proved to be more difficult in the second round of the Dunes Medal as Dylan Perry took a one-stroke lead after 36-holes. Perry posted an even-par second round to remain at 5-under and break free of what had been a first round share of the lead.
David Micheluzzi, ranked 43rd in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Rankings, trimmed one-stroke off of his deficit and reached 4-under with a day two 1-under 71 at The Dunes Golf Club. 2016 has been a strong season for Micheluzzi as he has picked up five top-10 finishes in AmateurGolf.com Ranking events.
Micheluzzi will begin the third round tied with Dale Williamson at 4-under. Williamson, who finished tied for fourth at the Northern Amateur, has combined rounds of 68-72.
Shae Wools-Cobb (-3) is fourth while three others are tied for fifth at 1-under.
First round co-leader Robbie Morrison feel into a tie for eighth and he is now even-par.
ROUND ONE RECAP
Dylan Perry and Robbie Morrison began their week at the Dunes Medal with 5-under 67's and they will carry a one-stroke lead into Wednesday's second round. The first round leaders were two of a 19 under-par players after the first round at The Dunes Golf Club.
Perry, who reached the Round of 16 at this years British Amateur, is looking to build off a 2015 win at Australia's NSW Country Championship. He also has had top-5 finishes this season in the Lake Macquarie Amateur and Keperra Bowl.
Morrison is looking to make a bigger name for himself with a win this week. His best AmateurGolf.com Ranking event finish in 2016 was a tie for 12th at the Mandurah Amateur Open.
Haydn Barron (-4) and Bill Williamson (-4) will begin the second round tied for third with four others 3-under in a share of fifth.
