(November 28, 2016) -- On Monday morning Global Golf Post announced their 2016 men’s and women’s Amateurs of the Year and also their fourth annual All- Amateur men's and women's teams.

The men's amateur winner for 2016 is three-time British Senior Amateur winner Chip Lutz while UCLA senior Bronte Law claimed the female honor.

“Amateur golf is a part of the DNA of The Post,” said founder and publisher Jim Nugent. “We take great pride and similar joy in supporting the amateur game, globally.”

Lutz, the 8th ranked senior in the AmateurGolf.com Rankings, broke into the 2016 win column with an extra hole win over Steve Hudson at June's George C. Thomas Senior. Riding the momentum from his win at the Los Angeles Country Club, Lutz earned his third British Senior Amateur title with a playoff win over Brady Exber. Lutz captured the title with a 25-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff.

Just ten days after play across the pond Lutz finished as the low amateur at the U.S. Senior Open. Lutz had been attempting to qualify for the last decade and finally was able to punch his ticket into the field by winning the 2015 U.S. Senior Amateur. The best round of the week for the 61-year-old playing in his first national championship was a 1-under 69 during Friday's second round.

“That was awesome to shoot the 69 (on Friday),” Lutz said. “It was really special to make the cut as the only amateur, it meant a great deal to me. That was my goal going into the tournament and I was thrilled to make the cut and to be the only amateur to make it. That to me was quite a nice accomplishment.”

Female Amateur of the Year Bronte Law recorded eight Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com top-10 finishes in 2016, including three wins, with her most notable coming in comeback fashion at the European Ladies Championship. On the final day, the 2016 ANNIKA Award winner overcame a seven-stroke deficit.

A member of the winning Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup team, Law joined elite company by matching Stacy Lewis' record five points in one Curtis Cup. Ranked as the number one Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com Women player in the world, Law played in three of the five LPGA majors in 2016 with her best finish coming at the Women's British Open were she finished tied for 50th.
