DAYTONA BEACH, FL (December 3, 2016) -- Former
San Jose State standout Regan De Guzman remained
as
the low amateur with one day left at the grueling final
stage of the LPGA and Symetra Tour Qualifying School.
De Guzman, 5-under in a tie for 16th, will have to put
together a strong final round at the LPGA International
Golf Course to attain her LPGA Tour card. Overall six of
the ten amateurs in the field made the 72-hole cut.
On Saturday De Guzman carded a 2-over 74 but
things could have been much worse. Through 12-holes
De Guzman was 4-over and without a birdie until she
rolled in two down the stretch on Nos. 13 and 18 to
salvage her round.
USC senior Karen Chung is just one-stroke further
back in a tie for 19th at 4-under. Chung, a former All-
American, had an interesting third round that ended
as a 1-under 71. On the frontside Chung had a pair of
double-bogeys and also a bogey on the backside,
however she was able to overcome the slip ups thanks
to six
birdies, including back-to-back circles to conclude the
day.
