SCOTTSDALE, AZ (December 30, 2016) -- For the second straight year an SMU Mustang has won the Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle. Last year it was Kenzie Wright and this year it was sophomore Brigitte Dunne in a playoff over Arizona sophomore Haley Moore. Once play went to extra holes Dunne didn't waste much time birdieing the first hole to win the 46th playing of the Arizona Silver Belle.

“The best part of the match was the playoff. Haley was playing such great golf – we both were. To make that birdie putt in the playoff to win it was the coolest feeling,” Dunne said following her victory.

Dunne and Moore started the round tied for the lead and they both finished regulation tied at 6-under and comfortably in front of Wake Forest's Jennifer Kupcho who posted a 2-under tally to place third.

Dunne used three consecutive rounds of 2-under 70 to reach the playoff. Her best round was her bogey-free second round on Thursday. Dunne had a seesaw final round that included six birdies and four bogeys.

Once again Haley Moore saw a 36-hole lead slip away at the Joanne Winter Arizona Silver Belle. Moore, who led after each of the first two rounds, began the day at 4-under and reached 6-under midway through the front nine with three front nine birdies and a bogey. However, the momentum slowed on the back nine and a bogey on No. 15 forced her to roll in a 17th hole birdie to earn her spot in the playoff.

“The round was back and forth all the way, I hung in there until the end. I was hitting the ball close to the green and making putts when I needed them, but Brigitte deserves this win – she played hard,” Moore said.

Junior golfer Alisaundre Morallos finished fourth at 1-under as she surged up the leaderboard. Alisaundre Morallos opened the round 4-over but moved into red figures with a 5-under 67 thanks to seven birdies in the first 13 holes.

Emilee Hoffman of Texas, Arizona's Krystal Quihuis, Colorado's Brittany Fan and 36-hole co-leader Texas Tech junior Gabby Barker shared fifth at even-par.
