McNealy, Morikawa Headline AmateurGolf.com Silicon Valley Amateur
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (January 12, 2017) -- Current No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings Maverick McNealy will be teeing it up at Coyote Creek Golf Club January 14-15 in the AmateurGolf.com Silicon Valley Amateur presented by Callaway Golf.

This will be the first event in 2017 for McNealy who is gearing up for his final semester at Stanford where he currently sits tied with Tiger Woods and Patrick Rodgers with 11 career victories.

McNealy will be joined by a very strong field that includes defending champion Collin Morikawa in taking on the Jack Nicklaus designed Valley and Tournament Courses.

Since winning the Silicon Valley Amateur presented by Callaway Golf last winter, Morikawa has become one of the top amateurs in the country with a win at the Sunnehanna Amateur, a Round of 16 showing in the U.S. Amateur, and a near victory at the Web.com Air Capital Classic. His play also earned him a spot in PGA Tour's Safeway Open last fall along and an invitation to the 2017 Walker Cup practice session with McNealy.

Morikawa will be joined by a host of Cal Bears including Jamie Cheatham, Walker Huddy, and Sebastian Crampton who each look to join Morikawa and Max Homa as Cal Bears to win the title.

Other notable players include Stanford's Brandon Wu who posted two top 10's for the Cardinals last fall season. He's joined by 2016 Memorial Amateur Champion Ben Corfee and St. Mary's junior Perry Cohen who captured his first collegiate win at the Nick Watney Invitational last fall.
