Sadom Kaewkanjana crusises to Philippine Amateur Open victory

CAVITE, Phillippines (January 8, 2017) -- It was all Sadom Kaewkanjana on the final day of the Philippine Amateur Open. Kaewkanjana took over the lead with his third round 5-under 67 and never looked back on Sunday as he cruised to a 5-under finish and a seven-stroke victory at The Riviera Golf Club.
After beginning the week with a 2-over 74, Kaewkanjana put together three consecutive under-par rounds to runaway from the field. The native of Thailand capped off his week with a 1-under 71 that included four birdies and three bogeys. Through 11 holes Kaewkanjana was even but he was able to seal the deal with 12th and 14th hole birdies on the way home.
Joo Hyung Kim was the distant runner-up at 2-over, first and second leader Yuto Katsuragawa was third at 4-over, the 6-over Aniceto Mandanas placed fourth and at 8-over Carl Jano Corpus was fifth.
WOMEN'S DIVISION
In the Women's Division Yuka Saso won in wire-to-wire fashion. Saso was under-par each day and she sprinted to a 9-under finish that left the rest of the field well off the pace.
The next closest competitor was Hee Ji Kim in second place at even-par, Harmie Nicole Contantino was third at 2-over, in fourth it was the 4-over Pajaree Anannarukarn while Nur Durriyah Damian was fifth at 8-over.
