MORGAN HILL, CA (January 15, 2017) -- With a spectacular day of golf St. Mary junior Connor Blick has rallied to win the AmateurGolf.com Silicon Valley Amateur presented by Callaway Golf. Blick shot an unassuming even-par 71 on Saturday before putting together a tournament winning bogey-free 6-under 66 in Sunday's final round at Coyote Creek Golf Club.
On Sunday Blick recorded six birdies, three on each side, and said that everything was clicking throughout the day.
Defending champion Collin Morikawa held the overnight lead and he was 1-under on his round before stumbling down the stretch with a bogey on No. 16 and double-bogey on No. 17. The Cal sophomore had to settle for a closing 3-over 74 and a third place 3-under finish.
The top-ranked amateur in the world, Maverick McNealy had a chance to force a playoff with a final hole birdie but his tee shot found the water and he ultimately bogeyed the hole to finish 4-under and runner-up. Playing in his first tournament of 2017, McNealy will now return to Stanford for his final semester where he is currently tied with Tiger Woods and Patrick Rodgers for the most wins in school history.
Tanner Hughes (Cal) and Brandon Wu (Stanford) finished tied for fourth at even-par.
SENIOR DIVISION
Jeff Britton used a 1-under 34 front nine and then held it together to win the Senior Division by six-strokes. Sung Han and Sunil Bhalla were second and third respectively.
First round Senior Division leader Tony Ralph withdrew being before completing his final round.
WOMEN'S DIVISION
San Jose State sophomore Alexandra Cooper took home the title in the Women's Division with rounds of 76-77 to post 9-over. Fresno State commit Marie Dean and first round leader placed second while San Diego State sophomore Daniela Anastasi was third.
NET DIVISION
Scott Carelli won by six-strokes over runner-up Mike Sly.
