FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (January 21, 2017) -- 12-year-old Alexa Pano continues to put the golfing world on notice. Months removed from becoming the youngest AJGA winner of all-time Pano has now added a victory at the Jones/Doherty Championship.
It took extra holes but after 22 holes Pano, playing as the four-seed, was able to outlast No. 11 Claire Fitzgerald in the title match at Coral Ridge Country Club.
A semifinalist a year ago, Pano was able to reach the finals thanks to a 2&1 victory over No. 8 Tara Connelly-Joy. Fitzgerald moved to the finals with a 4&3 final four win against seven-seed Casey Weidenfield.
Medalist Kendall Griffin earned medalist honors before bowing out in a quarterfinal match against Connelly-Joy.
In the Senior Flight top-seed Lisa Schlesinger took home the title 2&1 over No. 6 Terrill Samuel
