Chad Branton, Steve Stewart Lead Georgia Four-Ball After Round One

JEKYLL ISLAND, GA (March 31, 2017) -- Chad Branton of Cartersville and Steve Stewart of Adairsville posted a 7-under-par 65 in round one to lead the Georgia Four-Ball Tournament by two-strokes. The 29th edition of this event being hosted at Jekyll Island Golf Resort, kicks off the Georgia State Golf Association competition season.
Michael Morawiec of Woodstock and Nick Brown of Canton lead flight one at 3-under-par 69. In flight two, Don Paige of Lawrenceville and Ed Cordell of Norcross lead at 3-under-par 69. Bryan Keavney of Newnan and Jake Lepchitz of Sharpsburg lead the third flight at 1-over-par 73.
In flight five, Benny Justice of Gray and B.J. Fischer of Macon lead at 3-under-par 69. Johnny Page of St. Simons Island and Dewayne Moore of Macon hold the top spot in the sixth flight at 5-under-par 67. In flight seven, Steve Manders of McDonough and Steve Kirkland of Hampton lead at 4-over-par 76.
The Championship flight and flights one, two and three are playing on the Indian Mound course at Jekyll Island. Flights four through seven are competing on the Pine Lakes course.

The Georgia Four-Ball Tournament, held annually
since 1989, is open
to male amateur golfers who are GSGA members
and are residents of
Georgia. The format is four-ball stroke play.
Entries: Open to two-man teams of male
amateur golfers who have combined USGA
Handicap Indexes of 4.0 and above and a
maximum differential of 6 strokes
Field: 96 teams -- 82 teams determined by
lottery, three spots reserved for each host
club and one spot reserved for each of the
previous year's flight winners
