USC leads with Western Intercollegiate Second Round Suspended

SANTA CRUZ, CA (April 8, 2017) -- Western Intercollegiate play was suspended due to darkness late in the second round but not before No. 8 USC opened up an eight-stroke lead. Playing at Pasatiempo Golf Club the Trojans are 8-under and the only team under-par with still a few holes remaining in their second round.
Play is scheduled to resume at 8:00 a.m. PST with the third round to follow the conclusion of round two.
Leading the Trojan charge thus far is individual pace setter Justin Suh who at 5-under overall is the leader by one. Suh began his scheduled 36-hole day with a first round 2-under 68 and now with four holes left in his second round he sits at 3-under.
Beginning his second round on the 5th hole, Suh was even-par through six holes before rolling in consecutive birdies from Nos. 11-13.
USC, with one win and two second place finishes in the spring currently has four others besides Suh in the top-15; Andrew Levitt (T9; E), Rico Hoey (T14; +1), Sean Crocker (T14; +1) and Jonah Texeira (T14; +1).
Behind USC comes second place No. 14 Stanford (E), Washington (+6) is third, No. 5 Oregon (+9) is fourth while No. 25 Arizona State (+13) is fifth.
In the individual standings Isaiah Salinda (Stanford) is in second place a shot off the pace at 4-under, Maverick McNealy (Stanford); Alex Del Rey Gonzalez (Arizona State) are sharing third at 3-under and in fifth it is Henry Lee (Washington) with a 2-under tally.
McNealy is again making a bid for a record 12th individual title at Stanford. He currently has 11 career victories and is tied with Tiger Wood and Patrick Rodgers.
Hole-In-One Alert: On Saturday there were not one, not two but three aces at Pasatiempo Golf Club.
The first was recorded by Pepperdine's Hunter Epson on the 15th hole with a pitching wedge, the second was holed by the Waves Robert Geibel with a 3rd hole 5-iron with the third coming from Cal's William Aldred on the 15th hole.
